MP Vicky Foxcroft gives emotional speech on losing baby, telling MPs: 'I never wanted to let her go'

An MP visibly shook as she delivered an emotional speech in the Commons revealing the death of her five-day-old baby.

Vicky Foxcroft apologised to friends who she had never told about her ordeal at the age of 16 and said she had not spoken about losing her "little angel Veronica" because it hurt so much.

Supported by other MPs, she told how she held her baby until her heartbeat stopped, before saying: "I never wanted to let her go."

The Labour MP added: "She was never able to cry, to smile, but I loved her and I desperately wanted her. I still love her. She is always in my thoughts, all these years afterwards, even if I don't talk about her all the time."

The MP made a call to cut waiting times for bereavement counselling services in the debate on baby loss.
