An opposition MP has urged the chief of the Department of Provincial Administration to testify before a House panel and clarify allegations the agency is linked to so-called "blue network" politics.
Pakhamon Nunanant,a People’s Party MP and chair of the House committee on Political Development, Mass Communications and Public Participation, called on Narucha Khosasivilai to appear before the committee to explain allegations of political interference during a recent election campaign.
The call follows claims by Roongruang Thimabut, a former Phuket assistant governor, who disclosed a Line chat message allegedly sent by Mr Narucha during the election period.
The message reportedly contained the phrase “Please help Blue”, which critics have interpreted as support for a political faction associated with the “blue network”, a reference to the Bhumjaithai Party.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul also heads the Interior Ministry, which oversees the Department of Provincial Administration.
Mr Roongruang has alleged he was later transferred without fair treatment.
He has submitted a petition to the parliamentary committee seeking an investigation into whether Mr Narucha’s actions were linked to the transfer order.
Mr Roongruang has also filed complaints with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and the Election Commission (EC), accusing the official of failing to maintain political neutrality and potentially violating Section 172 of the anti-corruption law.
He said the case raises broader concerns about transparency in the previous election and the possible misuse of state authority to benefit a particular political party.
The committee has called a meeting on the matter for June 11.
