An MP has hit back at social media trolls who branded her "a slag" over her choice of outfit while on the job.
Labour's Tracy Brabin was targeted with comments like she had "just been banged over a wheelie bin" after she wore an off-the-shoulder dress in the House of Commons.
She later saying she called out the "everyday sexism" by "Pot Noodle" munching trolls because she was standing up for women who get the same treatment around the world.
The 58-year-old politician - who took over from murdered MP Jo Cox - bared her right shoulder in a black formal dress while raising points of order with Speaker of the House, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, 62, yesterday evening.
But it was the former Coronation Street actress's choice of attire that attracted the attention of viewers, and she began fielding a string of insults on social media.
One Twitter user slammed the former Coronation Street actress as "looking like a tart" with another adding "looks like she's on the morning after a walk of shame".
Another quipped: "Is this really appropriate attire for parliament? @TracyBrabin #DressStandards".
The Batley and Spen MP hit back tweeting: "Hello. Sorry I don't have time to reply to all of you commenting on this but I can confirm I'm not...A slag, Hungover. A tart. About to breastfeed. A slapper. Drunk. Just been banged over a wheelie bin.
"Who knew people could get so emotional over a shoulder..."
Tracy Brabin, who played Tricia Armstrong in the ITV soap between 1994 and 1997, won her seat in October 2016, following a by-election after the murder of Labour MP Jo Cox.
Soap actor Gary Webster, who has appeared in Eastenders and Hollyoaks and starred as Ray Daley in TV crime comedy Minder, defended Ms Brabin.
He tweeted: "Brilliant retort Tracy. Omg if only they were as vocal about the behaviour, misogyny, racism, falling asleep and warped policies of the ruling govt as they are about revealing one shoulder."
Northumbria University literary academic Professor Katy Shaw tweeted: "If I had a quid for every time someone had commented on what I wore rather than what I said... This rarely happens to men - calling it out is the only way to educate."
Ms Brabin was raising a point of order in the Commons on Downing Street's decision to order senior journalists from some of the UK's major news organisations to leave before a briefing on Boris Johnson's Brexit plans when she spoke at the despatch box wearing the outfit.
In a further debate on the subject today she said: 'It is concerning that Boris Johnson seems to be resorting to tactics imported from Donald Trump to hide from scrutiny.'
