MP 'regrets' comments on state premiers

Queensland MP George Christensen 'regrets' comments he made on state premiers on Wednesday. (AAP)

Queensland LNP MP George Christensen has walked back comments he made in parliament, saying reports "misrepresented" him.

Mr Christensen said there had been false claims on social media he had incited violence in a speech on Wednesday where he said "civil disobedience" was a solution to COVID-19 restrictions.

"I did no such thing ... never would, I abhor violence," he told parliament on Thursday morning.

He said any comparisons of Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot and Stalin to state premiers were "regrettable".

Mr Christensen told parliament on Wednesday state premiers were "racing down that familiar path trying to out-tyrant each other" when it came to COVID-19 restrictions.

"The totalitarian path, the path that we are unquestionably on, has never ended well," he said.
