UJJAIN: Body of an elderly man was found in a water filled drum at a construction site of Nanakheda sports stadium on Saturday morning, creating panic in the area.
The man, who was completely undressed, was found dead in a sitting position in the drum. The police suspect that the man was mentally unstable and might have killed himself.
Construction site supervisor Rahul said that the man was found by workers in morning.
The security guard, who was at the gate till 2am was unable to explain how the deceased entered the site.
Police identified the victim as Balu Singh, 67, a resident of Mahidpur.
“He seemed to be mentally unstable. The Dial 100 service of police had received information about the victim roaming naked in another police station area a couple of days ago,” City SP Vandana Chouhan said.
The police were in the process of collecting CCTV grabs of the nearby areas to ascertain the sequence of events.
FSL officer Preeti Gaikwad said that it seemed that the man had killed himself. “His fingers were closed to form a fist. There were no signs of struggle, except for bruises received on the knees and back from the drum,” she said.
