INDORE: Four tribals of Alirajpur district were on cloud nine, literally, on Wednesday after chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan offered them an opportunity to fly in a helicopter.
Chouhan was on a visit to Alirajpur when he decided to allow the four tribals -- Dariyav Singh, Mangal Singh, Ricchu Singh Baghel and Jodh Singh – to travel in the helicopter on a 30-minute ride from Ranbyda to Sejawada areas, which he was expected to cover by road during his Jandarshan Yatra.
“Any kind of smile on faces of my poor brothers and sisters is a matter of happiness for me, this gives me joy,” Chouhan wrote on Twitter, besides sharing a video of the tribals. He also posted videos and photographs of his meeting with people of tribal-dominated Jobat assembly constituency and dancing with them, through a series of tweets.
As part of the Jandarshan Yatra, Chouhan visited different villages of Jabot assembly constituency, where byelection has been necessitated following the death of Congress MLA Kalavati Bhuria, and sought the support of the public. He announced a number of development projects in Jobat constituency that include a stadium and a 100-bed hospital.
During his public address in Jobat, Chouhan inaugurated and laid foundation stones of as many as 135 development projects worth Rs70.30 crore. He also announced a plan to upgrade Jobat government hospital to a 100-bed facility, a stadium with facility for archery at an estimated cost of Rs5 crore, eight hostels costing Rs3 crore each, an industrial park on 28 acres in Umeri village, a post-graduate college that will offer science and other streams along with a CM Rise School.
Chouhan instructed officials to carry out a survey of eligible persons/families, who are yet to get houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) along with ‘eligibility slip’ to get free ration and Ayushman card to get free treatment and provide them benefits of the aforesaid schemes.
Chouhan also asked the district administration to make arrangements to provide training to students seeking to crack NEET and JEE.
Chouhan urged people to take required precautions and get both doses of vaccine to help keep spread of Covid-19 under control. “On the occasion of PM Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17, state government will hold a mega vaccination drive. People, who are yet to get vaccinated, are requested to get the jabs,” he said.
