Moving house? Man cops fine for stacking ute sky high

We've all thought about how to do fewer trips while moving house, but one man caught the attention of police for overloading his ute in country South Australia.

Officers stopped the fully laden ute, which was loaded with a double-bed frame, mattress and other personal belongings on George Street at Burra, in the Mid North, about 8:30pm last night.

"Sorry sir but this doesn't classify your car as a caravan!" police posted to Facebook.

"Not only is this load insecure but dangerous to other road users, not to mention obstructing the driver's view."

The 38-year-old man was issued with a $409 on-the-spot fine for having an insecure/dangerous load.

Police urged people moving house to hire a truck, van or trailer and secure the load properly with tie-downs and ropes.
