Mouthwatering real Texas-style BBQ takeaway opens in old Edinburgh blacksmiths

This is an official warning before you read on - you're about to get really, really hungry looking at Smiddy BBQ's mouthwatering fare.

A new takeaway has opened in an old Edinburgh blacksmiths on Dunedin Street near Canonmills and they're bringing real Texas style BBQ to Scotland.

Smiddy BBQ cook all their food on Helga, a traditional indirect Texas brick pit smoker and all their meat is cooked over the course of 17 hours using only Ash logs.

According to the team on Instagram: "We use only high quality, often wild and heritage breed meat, and experiment with our rubs and glazes constantly, to serve a Scottish take on traditional Texan style BBQ."

Customers can collect orders from Smiddy every Sunday (move over Sunday roasts) with the team taking at the start of every week for that weekend via Instagram direct message.

A 'Small Dawg' package is a two person BBQ feast featuring 12 hour smoked brisket point and flat, half a rack of babyback ribs, pork belly ends, butt and a generous portion for two of their legendary smoky 'Cowboy Beans', green apple and kohlrabi coleslaw, classic gherkins and homemade red onion pickles.

Feeding four? Double the order up with a 'Large Dawg' package which also comes with four peach cobblers and four portions of skillet corn bread.

You can check out the team's amazing BBQing skills and book a collection for yourself over on Smiddy BBQ's Instagram.
