Mouth of the Tyne security and entry rules as festival takes over Tynemouth Priory

The summer events are coming thick and fast now and there's another huge one on the agenda for this weekend.

We've had Plate Day and The Hoppings and Newcastle Pride and Ladies Day are on the horizon, but before then there is the small, or rather big, matter of a this year's sell-out Mouth of the Tyne festival.

Every year the annual event attracts huge crowds to Tynemouth Priory and 2019 is shaping up to be its biggest yet with the helping to make the festival a complete sell out.

The event will get going in style on Thursday evening with Sam Fender, whose gig became the fastest selling in Mouth of the Tyne history.

If you are going there are you need to be aware of, as well as security and entry rules:

Will bags be searched?

Yes all bags will be searched at the entrance to the Priory. Glass and any sharp objects are not allowed and will be confiscated on entry.  People are encouraged to travel light.

If I need to leave the concert can I get back in?

No. There is no re-admittance once you have entered the Priory.

In the case of an emergency,  speak to an event steward.

Are chairs and picnic rugs allowed?

Yes, but people bringing chairs and picnic rugs are advised to find a location to the side.

As the concerts are standing only please be mindful that views may be restricted. Tents are not permitted.

Issues with tickets

The festival is unable to deal with ticket issues on the day unless they have been notified of any changes directly by the ticket provider.

If you have lost tickets or your tickets do not arrive in time, you must contact the ticket company you purchased through ahead of the event.

If they issue replacements, your original tickets will be cancelled and won’t be accepted on the day. If they advise you to collect tickets on the day, you can do so at the on site box office located just outside Tynemouth Priory. Photo ID is required.

Are dogs allowed?

No dogs are allowed on site, except guide dogs.

Is smoking allowed?

No smoking is permitted within the grounds of Tynemouth Priory.
