Moussa Sissoko reveals what Tanguy Ndombele likes about his role in Jose Mourinho's Tottenham XI

Tottenham fans are now starting to see the very best of Tanguy Ndombele after a difficult first year in N17.

Struggling with injuries and his fitness after his club-record move from Lyon, rumours in the summer suggested that he could be on his way from the club after a nightmare time in the capital.

Thankfully Ndombele remained and Jose Mourinho and Tottenham are now seeing the very best of him.

Moussa Sissoko has played a key role in his fellow countryman's upturn in form and the pair have formed a very close bond in their time together at the club.

Playing in a number of positions this season, including in a midfield two with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of late following a change in formation, Moussa Sissoko believes that Ndombele likes his No.10 role when he has played there as it gives him more freedom on the pitch to make an impact in the final third.

"Everyone knows who I am and how I am," Sissoko told the club's official matchday programme (which can be purchased here) when asked about his role at the club. "I have a lot of experience in football and I have been at the club for fives years now so I know everyone, and I can say the good thing for me is that, from the past, I have learned a lot from some very experienced players.

"Like in the France national team, I had the chance to play with big players like Thierry Henry, Nicolas Anelka, plenty of players, even in my old club Toulouse, so I learned from them.

"In this team, I'm trying to do the same. I know when I first came to this club it wasn't easy and it took me some time to settle down and adapt, but now I'm feeling really good and everyone believes in me.

"'I'm trying to produce the same with the new players who have just arrived and even with the players that were here already. If I can help them or tell them something to help them, which in turn helps the team, I think that will benefit everyone.

"We know Tanguy had a tough season last year but that is normal because he came from another country, he had to learn a new language, he's young, living on his own, a different style of football and, after the manager who brought him here left, then there was a new manager - it was a lot of things for him.

"It took some time for him to adapt and I was here with the team and everyone in the club trying to help him to feel comfortable and for him to feel free so he could do his job. This year, he is doing very well, and this is also because of him, because he didn't give up. He was always focused, always working hard and all that effort he made, we can now see it.

"We all know that, with the ball, he is a magician, a creative player and we can see this year that he is playing more as a number 10 and he has more freedom on the pitch to go on the left, on the right, up and down. I think that's what he likes.

"That's good for him and hopefully he keeps going in that direction and can have some great games, score a lot of goals, get some assists and help the team to achieve some good things."
