Nottingham Forest defender Moussa Niakhate has vowed that the players will "fight" for every point between now and the end of the season, as the club battle against relegation back to the Championship.
The Reds had the chance to climb out of the bottom three on Sunday afternoon when they took on Manchester United at the City Ground. But goals from Antony and Diego Dalot either side of half-time saw Forest fall to a 2-0 loss.
The result means that Steve Cooper’s men remain in the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of the weekend’s trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool. Forest will be looking to end a 10-game winless run when they take on Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Following the game against United, in which Niakhate played the full 90 minutes, the defender took to social media to send a message to fans over the fight for safety this season.
“To the fans: we know we have to do better and we will fight for every point available until the final whistle blows,” he wrote on Twitter. “It’s a big challenge but we are ready for it. I am completely convinced that together we will pull this off.”
The 27-year-old repeated the message in an interview with the club’s official website following the defeat. The defender repeated that he is ‘convinced’ that the Reds can still earn survival this season.
“We are all trying our best to win games,” he said. “We will not give up, but we have to do more.
“We have to keep going, we have seven games left and they are like seven finals.
“It’s difficult as the end of the season is getting closer, but I am 100% convinced we will achieve our goals with this squad. We trust in each other and we now get to work straight away on Liverpool.”
