Moussa Konate a transfer 'target' for Rangers as striker set to make call over Ibrox switch

Moussa Konate is a transfer target for Rangers - according to a report.

The 26-year-old Amiens striker is being chased by a host of clubs and he is set to make a decision over his future in the coming days.

French outlet Premium Courier report the Ibrox have made contact with the player and he is now said to mulling over an offer to join Steven Gerrard's side.

A string of English sides have been tracking the Senegal international but Konate has turned down offers from elsewhere.

Konate is highly-rated and West Brom were strongly linked with a move for a player who netted nine goals in 31 appearances last season.

Rangers boss Gerrard and director of football have shopped in France previously after signing Lassana Coulibaly on a one-year loan deal from Angers.

Konate specialises in stretching defences with his searing pace and the link comes hours after the Ibrox boss admitted a big-money bid could come in for Alfredo Morelos before the close of the European transfer window.

Gerrard said: “We’ll find out in the coming days. I predict that a bid will land for one of my players.

"I'm comfortable in certain situations with certain personnel going out and playing football, players who are maybe not in my plans.

“What I'm not comfortable with is if a bid comes out of the blue for a player that is in my plans, that's when I would have a decision to make.

“I think it would depend on what comes from above, what their opinion is on it.

“At the end of the day it’s their money, the players are owned by the board. I want to keep as many good players as I can but I’m also not stupid enough to realise that if a bid comes for a player and the board accept it then it’s a tough position for me to be in.

“I’d give my opinion but at the end of the day we’ve all got bosses haven’t we?”
