Former Celtic hero Frank McAvennie hopes Moussa Dembele can pick up where he left off in Scottish football - by scoring more goals at Ibrox.
Dembele's Lyon take on Rangers in their Europa League Group A opener in Glasgow on Thursday night and McAvennie reckons the Frenchman could run the hosts ragged.
The 25-year-old hitman was often a crucial figure in Old Firm derbies in his time at Parkhead - making the difference on many occasions for Brendan Rodgers' famous side.
In three seasons with the Hoops, Dembele scored seven goals in nine Glasgow derbies before his £20m switch to Lyon in 2018.
And McAvennie is hopeful he can repeat the feat on the European stage for the French club.
“It would be nice, wouldn’t it?," he said, speaking to Football Insider.
"He’s a good player in cracking form but he won’t be going to Ibrox with that in mind.
"I’m sure the fans will be giving him stick for his Celtic ties but he’s so far removed from Celtic now.
"He will enjoy it, he will remember going there and scoring goals and he wants to repeat that for his new club.
"I don’t think there will be any thought of Celtic for him there. We know how good he is. He could run that Rangers team ragged.
"I always said he could play higher than where he is and Rangers can’t give him an inch.
"He’s the danger man. It will be a good battle I’m sure."
