Moussa Dembele transfer revival as Celtic windfall back in play thanks to Atletico Madrid January assault

Atletico Madrid are believed to be tracking Moussa Dembele as a replacement for the departed Diego Costa.

The former Chelsea striker was released from the final six months of his contract by mutual consent as he cited personal reasons to leave early.

That's left Diego Simeone searching for a backup to Luis Suarez as he looks to deliver the title this season.

According to Footmercato Dembele is high on the list of potential options and that could have a knock-on effect for Celtic.

When the French striker was sold to Lyon a substantial sell-on clause was included and that could bring a windfall if the deal goes through.

Any cash boost would have to wait until the summer though as the website reports that Atleti are looking to take Dembele on loan with an option to buy.

The striker has struggled for game time with OL this season but it remains to be seen if the Ligue 1 giants would allow him to leave without a guaranteed fee in the future.

Other options being considered are Napoli's Arkadiusz Milik, Loren of Real Betis, Espanyol striker Raul De Tomas and Real Sociedad's Willian José.
