Moussa Dembele to Manchester United latest as Celtic in line for transfer windfall

Lyon striker Moussa Dembele is reportedly open to a move to Manchester United when the transfer window opens.

The former Celtic star has been scouted by some of Europe's biggest clubs, with United keen to sign a goalscorer after letting Romelu Lukaku leave last summer.

Lyon look set to be without European football next season after Ligue 1 was ended early on a points-per-game basis.

That decision will have to be ratified at a general meeting later this month but is not expected to be overturned.

Inevitably that has led to speculation about Dembele's future and the Manchester Evening News reports he would find it difficult to turn down a move to Old Trafford.

While the two clubs are not currently in negotiations for the France Under-21 international it's thought that Dembele's representatives are keen on the idea of a move to Manchester United.

If he does make the move it could mean a big windfall for Celtic, who inserted a sell-on clause as part of the deal that took the striker to Lyon.

Timo Werner of RB Leipzig is another name in the frame for the English Premier League giants.

However, it's not clear when the transfer window will open as different leagues take different approaches to trying to finish their seasons in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
