Moussa Dembele thanks Celtic fans as praise floods in following Champions League double

It may be two years since Moussa Dembele left Celtic, but he remains a popular figure among fans of the Scottish champions.

The Frenchman came off the bench to score two late goals for Lyon as they beat Manchester City 3-1 in their Champions League quarter-final on Saturday night, and Celtic supporters have sent Dembele numerous messages congratulating him.

On Sunday afternoon, Dembele responded to a video from @ronanhammond_, which showed fans singing as they watched the 24-year-old in action against Pep Guardiola's side.

Dembele responded: "My @CelticFC people always up to cheer for my goals and performances. Love to see that kind of videos and your support."

Celtic legend Chris Sutton was among those praising Dembele, tweeting: "Delighted for Moussa Dembele. Another player developed in Scotland and stupidly shunned by Premier League clubs...he just knocked out moneybags Manchester City...when will clubs south of the border learn..."

The striker responded: "Thank you Chris I appreciate it. The semi-final will be another battle but I’m used to it."

Dembele scored 51 goals in 94 games for Celtic after being brought to Glasgow by Brendan Rodgers in 2016.
