Moussa Dembele sparks fresh Celtic windfall hope as Manchester United eye another Hoops favourite

Manchester United are believed to be keeping an eye on Moussa Dembele this January - in what could be a financial boost for Celtic.

The Red Devils are believed to be looking at bolstering their forward line in January amid rumbling discontent around iconic forward Cristiano Ronaldo. Dembele has been back in France with Lyon since leaving Celtic in 2018 and is out of contract next summer, with rumours of moves away this season persisting through the summer and now into autumn months.

A report from The Mirror states Old Trafford boss Erik ten Hag is said to 'favour a more goal-hungry, traditional striker' and 'The three figures rumoured to be in the sights of the United boss are Lille's Jonathan David, Bayer Leverkusen talisman Patrik Schick and Lyon star Moussa Dembele.' It would represent potential finances for former club Celtic, who inserted a sell-on clause to his exit four years ago, but those hopes are diminishing fast.

It comes just days after Man United were linked with another of the Hoops' former player, Jeremie Frimpong, now at Bayer Leverkusen.

He is thriving in the Bundesliga with the club he joined from Parkhead in 2021 and the Red Devils reportedly view him as a right-back option.

Both won everything Scottish football has to offer while in Glasgow and are amongst players like Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer who have sealed big moves away from Parkhead in recent seasons.
