Moussa Dembele slaughtered on live TV as Manchester United transfer target suffers brutal verdict

Man of the moment Moussa Dembele has received a brutal review live on French TV after being told his "shortcomings" will stop him reaching the top of the game.

Former Monaco star Bruno Irles took the Manchester United target to task ahead of his display against Juventus in the last 16 of the Champions League .

Dembele didn't score but did earn a positive review from many others with his physical presence causing Maurizio Sarri's side problems as the the French side secured a 1-0 win in the first leg.

But Irles isn't convinced Dembele has the quality required to take his game to the next level if he departs Lyon this summer.

The 44-year-old, speaking on the Late Football Club, said: "Yes, Moussa Dembele is a good striker for Ligue 1 but when the level rises we see his shortcomings.

"We do not see a big strength that means he can aspire to an international level.

"He's not quick enough for the top level. In terms of explosiveness, and also in the way he dribbles, he's not at that top level."

Irles' opinion is unlikely to turn off suitors with Dembele on the radar of United as well as fellow Premier League sides Tottenham and Chelsea.

Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas wants big money for his 20-goal striker and is believed to looking for around £84m for the former France U21 star.

That would be good news for Celtic who have a significant sell-on fee for a player they sold in 2018 for £19.8m.

Manchester United remain the favourites to seal a deal for the 23-year-old this summer as they look to strengthen their attacking options to compliment Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
