Moussa Dembele sends Celtic fans message after scoring against them

Moussa Dembélé has sent Celtic fans a message after scoring against his old club.

The French striker was reunited with his former team-mates on Saturday night when Lyon faced Celtic in the Veolia Trophy, and gave his side an early lead in their 2-1 win.

Dembélé scored 51 goals in 94 games for the club after being brought to Glasgow by Brendan Rodgers in 2016.

After his side's victory, Dembéle tweeted: "Nice to see you again @CelticFC.

"Felt kind of weird to score against you...but after all it’s only a preparation game. We’ll meet again soon."

The 24-year-old, who has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, headed his side into the lead after just four minutes.

Former Old Trafford star Memphis Depay doubled the French side's advantage with a backheel before Mo Elyounoussi scored a late consolation for Neil Lennon's men with an excellent finish.

Speaking to his club's in-house TV channel OLTV before the game, Dembéle said: "My story at Celtic was good, I think. We won titles, we won matches, we won derbies.

"I grew as a man and as a footballer, which is the most important thing. All stages of your career are important, but it is true that my time there was the first time that I went to a new dimension and I still thank the club for everything they gave me.

"Celtic is a very big club, not just in Scotland, but in Europe. I think that they are known as one of the most supported clubs in the world, and they prove it.

"I still support the club. I still know 90 per cent of the squad. There have been some new arrivals, but 90 per cent of the team is the same as when I was there, and I am still in contact with them."
