Moussa Dembele 'scouted' by Chelsea as Frank Lampard ready to spend £150m transfer kitty

Former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has been watched by Chelsea ahead of a potential January move.

The Frenchman has been heavily linked with Manchester United over the last year but now Chelsea could move before them - according to a report.

The Daily Mail state the Stamford Bridge club had a scout at Lyon's 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig, a match saw both sides progress to the next round.

And they killed two birds with one stone with Chelsea also wanting to take a closer look at Timo Werner.

Dembele is going through something of a goalscoring drought with no goals in his last five games.

It's the second time this season the 23-year-old has gone on a five game scoreless streak but has netted 10 goals in 22 appearances.

Chelsea are on the lookout for another striker after their transfer ban was lifted. Tammy Abraham is currently first choice with Olivier Giroud set to leave in January.

Michy Batshuayi has appeared off the bench in recent weeks but is likely to be moved on in the winter window as well.

The club are believed to be targeting three strikers with a £150m budget to be spent.

Dembele is likely to cost around £50m after impressing while playing in Ligue 1.

Any sale could see Celtic net around 10 per cent of the transfer fee after his £20m move to Lyon in 2018.
