Moussa Dembele's Celtic sell-on in play as Lyon director of football makes key transfer admission

Lyon director of football Juninho has admitted the club will sell Celtic hero Moussa Dembele in the coming months.

The Hoops negotiated a 10 per cent sell-on when they agreed a £20m deal to allow him to depart for Ligue 1.

With a transfer market value of over £60m for the striker, Peter Lawwell will be looking to recoup another £6m back into the Ten In A Row fighting fund.

Dembele scored a decisive double in the Champions League quarter-final to knock out Pep Guardiola's much fancied Manchester City.

But he's was on the bench for the semi-final defeat against Bayern Munich and has been frustrated with his lack of starting minutes at times in his spell at the club.

Lyon finished seventh in the French top flight last season and thus miss out on the riches of next season's competition despite such a deep run this term.

And Juninho admits the financial implications of this failure means the striker will be leaving before the window shuts.

He said: “If we continue the way we have, we will be back in the Champions League very soon.

“Players will be leaving, like Houssem Aouar and Moussa Dembele, but I’m not worried.

“We want to secure Champions League football next season.”
