Moussa Dembele makes Manchester United transfer decision as Celtic wait on windfall

Celtic will be made to wait on a major transfer windfall after Moussa Dembele pledged his future to Lyon.

The 22-year-old joined the French giants last summer in a £19.7 million move that also included a ten per cent sell-on clause.

Dembele is being tracked by Manchester United , with Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly keen to sign the prolific hitman.

That sparked speculation the Premiership champions could pocket a tidy sum if Dembele made the switch to Old Trafford.

But the ex-Hoops striker, currently shining for France Under-21s at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, stated he’s not ready to leave Lyon.

Speaking after last night’s match, in which he scored the winner against Croatia, he said: “I still have 4 years left on my contract, I will be in Lyon next season.”

The news suggests that Celtic will have to wait a little longer before they can profit from Dembele's next move.

Dembele helped the Hoops win consecutive domestic trebles, notching 26 goals before moving back to France.

The Hoops are set to unveil David Turnbull as their first summer signing over the weekend.

The Motherwell midfielder is set to sign a four-year deal after a protracted transfer saga saw Celtic eventually fend off interest from Premier League outfit Norwich City.
