Moussa Dembele in Lyon lifeline as Celtic hero urged to 'not just let go' by desperate Laurent Blanc

Lyon boss Laurent Blanc has urged Moussa Dembele to "not just let go" of the club as he demanded improvement before the striker leaves in the summer.

The French striker's contract expires at the end of the season and the hierarchy at the Ligue 1 side is resigned to losing the former Celtic ace. Clubs in the English Premier League are reportedly keen on the securing Dembele's services in the summer as he looks to move on off the back of a disappointing campaign where he has acted as understudy to former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, finding the net just three times this term.

The former Lyon captain has been criticised for his form as he runs down his deal but Blanc insists he still trusts the striker, as the boss looks to drag the French side up the table to the European spots from 10th spot. He admitted the "situation is delicate" ahead of the clash with Nantes but refused to rule out a run in the side with 10 games remaining.

"Things are not easy, especially in the offensive field which is sometimes very surprising. For a while, he didn't score in clear situations. But we must not just let go, and it's our job to improve him."
