His Majesty the King has agreed to extend the period when mourners can pay last respects to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Grand Palace from Sept 30 until Oct 5.

The Royal Household Bureau on Tuesday night announced the extension as crowds of people from across the country keep arriving at the Grand Palace.

His Majesty acknowledged the people’s affection, faith and loyalty to King Bhumibol and that many people were strongly determined to pay their respects to him once in their lives, the statement said.

The King had been overwhelmed by the people’s generosity and was concerned that many people may not have the chance to pay respects to the late King within the Sept 30 deadline

The King agreed to extend the deadline until midnight of Oct 5, the bureau announced.
