Mourners pay their respects to Roy Keane's dad Mossie at removal in Co Cork

A flurry of funeral mourners sympathised with Roy Keane on Friday night on the death of his beloved dad Maurice ‘Mossie’ Keane.

The Irish and Man United football legend looked sombre as he shook hands with neighbours and friends outside the Church of The Resurrection.

Mr Keane died at Heather Care Home in the grounds of Cork’s Orthopedic Hospital on Wednesday.

He had suffered a stroke in November of last year and had been ill since.

Unlike his son, Mr Keane did not have a footballing background although he was a big fan of the sport.

A removal for the popular man took place on Friday from O’Connor Bros. Funeral Home with large crowds turning out to pay their respects.

The Requim Mass for Mr Keane will take place at Church of The Resurrection, Farranree on Saturday with the burial afterwards at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Kilcully.
