Mourners gather for funeral of Philomena Lynott in Sutton in Dublin

Mourners lined the streets to pay a fond farewell to Philomena Lynott this afternoon.

The mother of Thin Lizzy rocker Phil Lynott will be laid to rest today following her death at the age of 88 after a long battle with lung cancer.

Philomena's removal took place this morning, with a white horse-drawn hearse taking her body to St Fintan's Church in Sutton where her funeral service was held.

The Crumlin native will be buried in St Fintan's Cemetery.

U2 were among those paying tribute to Philomena, with a floral wreath signed "Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam."
