Mourners asked to wear colourful clothes to funeral of Dublin mum Jackie McGovern killed in crash tragedy

Mourners have been asked to wear colourful clothing to the funeral of a Dublin mum who was killed after being struck by a car.

Jacqueline (Jackie) McGovern, 54, died after she was hit by a speeding car on Avondale Road in Killiney, Co Dublin, on March 10.

The special needs teacher was out walking with her best friend Audrey Behan, 51, who was also injured but not seriously hurt in the incident.

Three raiders, who had minutes earlier held up a nearby Centra in Dalkey, fled the vehicle on foot.

A manhunt is underway for the gang following the horror crash which happened shortly after 9.20pm.

A death notice on RIP.ie reads: "Beloved wife of Brendan and loving daughter of Margo and Paul and loving mother of Oisin, Cormac and Clodagh.

"Sadly missed by her loving husband, mother, father, sons, daughter, sister Christina, brothers Damien and Frankie, her best friend Audrey, nephews, nieces, relatives and a large circle of close friends."

Removal will take place on Wednesday morning to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Johnstown, Killiney, arriving for 10am Requiem Mass.

The funeral will then proceed immediately afterwards to Shanganagh Cemetery, Shankill.

Mourners attending the funeral on Wednesday have been asked to dress colourfully in celebration of Jackie's life.

In accordance with COVID-19 crowd restrictions, the Mass will be relayed to outside the church and mourners are asked to please refrain from handshaking.

Messages of condolence can be left on R.I.P.ie's online condolence book. Family flowers only please, donations if desired, may be made to Autism Ireland.
