Mourinho makes big claim about Tottenham players which won't go down well at Manchester United

Jose Mourinho believes that the Tottenham Hotspur players he inherited are better than those he had at Manchester United.

The Portuguese joined Spurs in November, almost a year after being sacked by United.

A new documentary series, Amazon Prime Video's All or Nothing, followed Tottenham throughout season and captured many of the normally private conversations that go inside the club's Hotspur Way training complex and stadium.

One of those was Mourinho's first one-to-one chat with Harry Kane, after the new Spurs boss invited the England captain to come to his office in the morning of his second day at the club.

Not only did Mourinho tell the striker of his plans for him but also admitted his belief about his new group of players compared to the one he had at United.

“I believe that you have a very good relationship with Mauricio [Pochettino], I love that. I always think, good relationship with the previous manager. Why not me?" Mourinho said to Kane.

"I saw you training yesterday and I have no doubts that you are a leader. That is my feeling. The world looks to English football with an incredible respect but they still think that the movie stars of football belong to other places. We have to build also your status in that direction.

"My profile, I am little bit like that as a coach. My dimension is universal and my being with me I think I can help you to (makes explosion gesture).

"What I don't accept, because it is my nature, to be here and win nothing., but I feel that we can because of you. You have better players than I had at Manchester United. The club has a lot [of potential] to explode."

The Amazon Prime Video show begins streaming on Monday with the first three episodes, narrated by Hollywood star Tom Hardy, available to download then.

Spurs allowed cameras to follow their every move within their Hotspur Way training complex and at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with cameras fixed in various offices, including the manager's and the changing rooms.

The opening episodes of the series cover Mauricio Pochettino's departure from Tottenham and Mourinho's early weeks in charge.
