Mountains of corona beers found stashed for illegal rave

A mountain of Corona beer stashed near a disused coal mine believed to be destined for an illegal rave has been found by police.

Knowsley Police unearthed the haul while on a quad bike patrol around Cronton Colliery yesterday afternoon.

A “large quantity” of alcohol including crates of Corona and Peroni beer was discovered hidden away at the location.

After the find, police said they wanted to “reassure members of the public that we are continuing to work around this and a number of other locations to prevent unauthorised music events from taking place.”

They added the warning: “Attending such events can put you and the wider put you and the wider public at significant risk.”

The find comes after several highly publicised illegal raves hit the news recently after violence, including sexual violence and a death from a drug overdose occurred at the events.

Several illegal gatherings have been reported by the ECHO including one in Rainford were three people were hospitalised and another in Huyton where rubbish was left strewn in woods by revellers and reports of serious assaults.

Yesterday we reported that police shut down an organised illegal rave on Southport Beach on Saturday after 70 young people turned up.
