Not much surprise here.

The Mountain West football media has released its selections for preseason offensive, defensive and special teams player of the year and, no surprise, the choices are pretty much what you’d expect.

Utah State quarterback Jordan Love was tabbed for the offensive honor after leading the high-octane Aggies attack to a conference-best 6.84 yards per play and 47.5 points per game. He threw for 3,567 yards, at 8.6 yards per attempt, and finished 2018 with a 158.32 passer rating.

Boise State STUD Curtis Weaver may not have been quite as clear a choice as defensive player of the year, but there’s no doubt he earned the nod after leading the Broncos with 15 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in 2018.

Wyoming kicker Cooper Rothe came out on top of a loaded field of specialists after a season in which he was a Lou Groza Award finalist, converting on 16-of-17 field goal attempts while finishing a perfect 28-of-28 on extra point tries.
