Mountain teams in dramatic rescue as climbers lifted to safety in Aberdeenshire

Terrifying footage shows the moment two climbers were lifted to safety on an Aberdeenshire mountain.

The climbers had got into difficulty on Beinn a’Bhuird, a 1197 metre giant in the Cairngorms mountain range on Thursday, August 13.

The rescue was one of three callouts made to the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team in the last 24 hours.

Clips show the moment a helicopter from Coastguard Rescue 151 lifted the two climbers to safety from the Mitre Ridge of the mountain.

One causality was treated for a shoulder injury when brought to safety.

Braemar MRT took to social to say: “Team involved in 3 callouts over the last 24 hours, most recent being this evening when we responded to a report of an injured climber on Mitre Ridge on Beinn a’Bhuird, as ever thanks to Coastguard Rescue 151 for some excellent flying and to Aberdeen MRT for turning out as well, casualty was treated for a shoulder injury.

“Fantastic work by the team and incredible flying from our colleagues at HM Coastguard - Highland Rescue 151.”
