Mountain rescue team called to help after elderly woman fell on path in Tameside

A mountain rescue team carried an injured elderly woman to safety after she slipped and fell on a muddy path in Ashton.

Oldham Mountain Rescue were called to help an 82-year-old woman in Park Bridge on Sunday.

The woman, who had hurt her ankle, was being treated by paramedics when mountain rescuers arrived.

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team wrote on Facebook: "On Sunday afternoon, the Team’s assistance was requested by NWAS to attend an 82 year old female who had slipped on a muddy path in the Park Bridge area, injuring her ankle.

"She was very cold due to being on the ground, so was wrapped in a winter cas bag and treated by Team medics before being carried to the road on our stretcher.

"Thank you to the several passers-by who stayed with her, kept her warm and directed us to scene."

The rescue lasted more than two hours.
