Mountain biker goes flying over bear

Reece Wallace, a professional freeride mountain biker, was riding down a trail at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park in Vancouver, Canada, when he nearly collided with a black bear.

“I slammed on my brakes and came to a stop and backed up quickly,” Wallace told USA Today/For The Win Outdoors. “I then ran up the trail to warn other riders about the bear and to stop, but one rider decided to go for it and jump the bear.”

So Wallace took the opportunity to quickly pull out his camera and film the jump:

The encounter seemed to startled the bear, which ran off. But only momentarily.

“The bear and the rider were fine,” Wallace told For The Win Outdoors. “The bear continued to eat grass about five seconds after the clip and didn’t seem worried.”

And the unidentified rider apparently kept on going.
