Mount Vernon Avenue crash: Two men hospitalised after collision between motorbike and car

Two men have been hospitalised following a serious crash between a motorbike and a car on Mount Vernon Avenue.

Police were called to the scene in the east end of Glasgow following reports of a collision yesterday afternoon.

Officers have since confirmed the two men, both 51 years old, were rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Their condition is unknown.

The road was shut down by the emergency services for a number of hours as a result, but has since reopened.

Police are continuing their investigations into the crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.35pm on Wednesday, 19 May, officers were called to a report of a road crash involving a Yamaha motorbike and a Honda car on Mount Vernon Avenue, Glasgow.

"Police and Ambulance attended and both male drivers (both aged 51 years) were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash. "
