A person was killed, and two others were injured when a minivan struck a sign Sunday in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.
Officers responded about 11:13 a.m. for a traffic crash on Golf Road near Robert Drive, Mount Prospect police said.
There, they learned a Toyota minivan was eastbound on Golf, approaching Robert Drive when it struck an electronic arrow sign board attached to a landscaping pickup truck along with a worker, police said. A second worker was injured when they were hit by the sign.
One worker was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to the same hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. The worker struck by the sign was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Mount Prospect police are investigating the crash.
