Actress Mouni Roy is the new bride in town who tied the knot with her beau Suraj Nambiar in a private wedding ceremony following Malayali rituals in the day. This was followed by a traditional Bengali wedding in the evening and in both cases, she stunned as a Sabyasachi bride. Taking the traditional route, she opted for a classy white saree with red and golden borders in line with her Bengali background and topped it with 22K gold temple jewellery paying homage to the groom’s cultural roots. When she turned into a Bengali bride, she wore accessories by the same jewellers who spilled the beans about her look. Founder Ishu Datwani exclusively talks to ETImes and shares details.

Tell us about the jewellery that Mouni wore on her wedding day.
For the South Indian wedding, Mouni wore exquisite handcrafted temple gold jewellery. Her ensemble comprised of an elegant choker with a long haar, jhumkas, maathapatti, kadas and kamarbandh crafted in pure 22K gold. Temple jewellery embodies the rich cultural history, tradition and legacy of South India, with carvings of Gods and Goddesses.
For her Bengali wedding, Mouni wore a stunning emerald and uncut diamond heritage bridal jewellery. Her ensemble comprised of an ethnic choker paired with earrings, maathapatti, nosering and kadas to complete her look. The jewellery gave a regal look and was reminiscent of the royal era.
At what point of the preparations did you get involved in the wedding?
Her stylist had approached us about 2 weeks prior to her wedding.
Did you get any special input from Mouni or her stylist?
The input from her stylist was that she wanted a traditional yet classy and elegant bridal look that would embrace the cultural roots of both Mouni and Suraj.
Did Mouni ask for a no-reveal clause, like we've seen in recent celebrity weddings?
There was no "no-reveal" clause but we did not want to spoil the effect by revealing it just for the sake of publicity.
