Motorists will be able to use motorways for free during the New Year holidays, Natthaporn Jatusripitak, an adviser attached to the Prime Minister's Office, said yesterday.
Mr Natthaporn said the cabinet had approved a Transport Ministry proposal for the motorway fee exemption, adding the free travel period on routes 7 and 9 will start at one minute past midnight on Dec 28 and end at midnight on Jan 4.
Motorway Route 7 stretches from Srinakarin Road in Bangkok to Pattaya in Chon Buri, while motorway Route 9, known as the Outer Ring Road or Kanchanaphisek Road, stretches from Bang Pa-in in Ayutthaya to Bang Phli in Samut Prakan.
Meanwhile, the MRT Blue and Purple lines will on Dec 31 extend services to 2am on Jan 1, 2018, according to Rithika Suparat, acting governor of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand.
