Police are 'concerned' after school pupils were repeatedly spotted hanging around the M8.
Officers are warning youths to stay away from the busy motorway 'before someone gets seriously injured.'
It comes after they received a number of sightings between J4a Heartlands and junction 4 Whitburn this week.
Now some young people have been traced by police as they investigate the incidents.
Officers are planning to halt the 'dangerous activity' by speaking directly to Whitburn academy pupils and staff.
Police Scotland said: "We have been particularly concerned this week after a number of calls about young people being on the M8 motorway between J4a Heartlands and junction 4 Whitburn.
"We have traced and spoken to a number of them but are asking that you spread the message as widely as possible before someone gets seriously injured.
"Our school based officer at Whitburn academy will be talking to pupils and staff in the coming days and between us, we can stop this dangerous activity."
