Motorway cops hit £300,000 jackpot on the M6 in Cheshire

Police hit the jackpot when they stopped a car on the M6 in Cheshire.

The vehicle was pulled up for a spot check and officers were stunned by what they found in the boot.

Stuffed inside a carrier bag was £300,000 in banknotes.

North West Motorway Police said in a Facebook Post: "Vehicle stopped at Sandbach check site by RCVU (Regional Commercial Vehicle Unit) for a stop check.

"£300k found in boot that the driver couldn't account for.

"Money seized and driver arrested for money laundering. Our patrols will continue to deny criminals the use of the roads."
