Motorists warned to expect delays as Plimsoll Bridge partially closes until next week

Plimsoll Bridge has been partially closed until next week due to emergency repairs.

Bristol City Council has said they expect the closure will remain in place until Tuesday (April 2).

People have been advised to avoid the outbound route and to expect delays while the repairs are carried out.

A spokesperson for the council said: "One outbound lane of Plimsoll Bridge has been closed to traffic while repairs to a loose plate on the surface of the Bristol swing bridge continue.

"We expect the closure to remain in place until Tuesday (April 2), and we will provide a further update at the start of next week.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the outbound route, where possible, and to expect delays, especially during this evening’s peak traffic and on Monday.

"We apologise for the inconvenience during these essential works."
