Motorists warned repair works on road near Edinburgh will lead to diversions and delays

Edinburgh motorists are warned of diversions on Friday when the A1 at East Linton is closed for works.

Overnight repairs to the southbound carriageway of the A1 at Abbotsview junction and East Linton are scheduled for the night of Friday November 12.

The work will be carried out by Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists during these works, the southbound carriageway of the A1 will be closed at Abbotsview junction, with southbound traffic diverted via the A199 to rejoin the A1 at Thistly Cross roundabout.

This diversion is expected to add approximately 3 minutes and 0.1 miles to affected journeys.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to make them aware of these plans in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These repairs will enhance safety for motorists on the A1 by removing defects on this section of the carriageway. We’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise disruption.”
