Roadworks on the A725 Bellziehill Junction will be extended by a further two weeks.
Motorists are advised to expect delays while the maintenance is carried out which will now run until September 5.
Transport Scotland say it is due to "unforeseen engineering challenges" during the ongoing bridge repair works.
The essential maintenance is on the A725 overbridge (A721 westbound) in Bellshill.
Work being carried out includes waterproofing and resurfacing, however the revised timescale will still be subject to weather conditions.
The south overbridge of Bellziehill roundabout which carries the A721 westbound will remain closed to traffic into September 5, between the A725 southbound on-slip road and the A725 northbound off-slip at Bellziehill Junction.
The A725 north and southbound off and on-slips at Bellziehill Junction will remain open to traffic, while pedestrian access will be maintained via the footpaths on both the north and south side of Bellziehill roundabout overbridges.
Signed diversion routes are in place whilst these works are ongoing.
The closure will be in place 24/7 for the duration of the works and road users are being advised to allow extra time for your journey or use an alternative route if possible.
Scottish Roads Partnership have apologised for any inconvenience caused during these repairs.
Motorists are also reminded that all works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
