Motorists warned Harthill services to close overnight this month

The M8 Harthill Service station is due to close for one night later this month essential street lighting repair works.

Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, has scheduled overnight street lighting repair works at Harthill services, where the BP Garage and lorry carpark is situated.

The works will take place from 8pm until 6am on Sunday, April 30. The service station will be closed and unavailable for fuel or welfare during this time.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close the entry to the service station during these works, however we’ve arranged for the project to take place overnight to minimise the impact.

"We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience and understanding. We’ll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, or on Twitter at @trafficscotland.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
