A man has taken to social media to share his surprise over a slot in his car after discovering its true purpose.
When filling up our tanks, many will simply pop the cap and let it hang from the side of the car. However, there is a slot on certain cars that allows motorists to hang their caps up, meaning that it won't dangle and drop fuel onto the side of your vehicle.
Justin, who posts under the TikTok username @milltj01, had to share his shock when discovering this nifty feature, writes the Mirror.
The caption on his social media post read: "How did I not know this?"
In the now-viral clip, the man shows himself removing the fuel cap from his car, as if he was going to fill it up with petrol. He then points to a 'slot' on the fuel door and hangs the cap on it.
A voiceover says: "38 years on this earth and I just learned this."
His video has been watched more than one million times with many confessing that they hadn't known about this before in the comments.
One person replied: "51 years on this earth and I just learned this," while another said: "I'll be back in a second, I have to check something."
His clip caught the attention of another TikTok user @aketton, who has over 64,000 and made his own video, in which he goes out to his own car to check whether he can also do this.
"No I'm not having that," he says as he approaches the vehicle. But to his surprise, the car that he owns also has the handy slot.
This causes the TikToker to say: "How did I not know that? I normally just let it dangle and knock about like that."
