Motorist stopped for driving more than 20mph over speed limit on residential street in Sale

A motorist was stopped by police after driving more than 20mph over the speed limit on a residential street in Sale.

Officers monitoring Hope Road, which has a speed limit of 30mph, pulled over the driver of a grey Mini travelling at 51mph.

The Mini was among a number of vehicles stopped by Greater Manchester Police traffic officers - who were carrying out an enforcement exercise on the residential road in Sale on Wednesday - for speeding.

The force took to Twitter to warn motorists that speed kills and to remind them of the importance of staying within the limit.

On Wednesday evening, alongside a picture of the Mini, GMP Traffic posted: "Several motorist stopped for driving above the 30mph speed limit. Including this vehicle which was doing 51mph!"

The tweet continued: "Drive to the conditions and don't exceed the posted limit!"
