Motorist's car seized after gardai discover they've been driving on provisional licence for 19 years

A Dublin driver had their car seized after gardai discovered they had been driving on provisional licences for almost two decades.

The driver was stopped by the Dublin Metropolitan Region's Road Policing Unit after they broke a red light.

But the motorist found themselves in further hot water when gardai discovered they were driving on a learner permit having received their first provisional licence 19 years ago.

Gardai confirmed the motorist's car was seized and several fixed penalty notices were issued.

 

They said: ‘What’s another year to someone who lost everything that he owns’ DMR RPU observed driver breaking a red light.

"On stopping driver it was discovered they were on a learner permit, having received their first provisional license 19 years ago!! 

"Car seized. FCPN’s issued."
