Motorist in A725 crash 'nearly five times over drink drive limit'

Police have arrested a motorist for being nearly five times over the drink drive limit after a road traffic collision caused extensive damage to vehicles and saw the A725 near Belshill closed on Saturday night.

The two-vehicle collision blocked the carriageway and held up traffic whilst Lanarkshire Road Police and emergency services had to clear the debris.

Thankfully no-one was hurt in the collision but officers were not amused when one of the drivers involved gave a breathalyser reading of 105 when the legal limit is 22.

The suspect has been arrested for drink driving.
