A motorist is due to stand trial accused of causing the death of a woman and serious injury to a man by driving dangerously.

The case of Iestyn Jones was listed for a plea and trial preparation hearing before Judge David Wynn Morgan at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday.

Jones, 52, from Old Tram Road in Tafarnaubach, Tredegar, pleaded not guilty to causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.

The defendant was driving a Hyundai IX35 at the time of the incident on the A4046 at Cwm in Ebbw Vale on July 6 last year.

Michael Culleton, from Cwmbran, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Nevill Hall Hospital.

Jones was granted bail until the next hearing on September 4.
