Motorist caught doing more than twice the speed limit on M50 tests positive for cannabis

A dopey driver was clocked doing a staggering 210km/h on the M50 yesterday - and then tested positive for cannabis.

Gardai told today how the motorist was arrested and a blood sample was taken after being detected doing more than twice the speed limit on Dublin's busy ring road.

They said: "Dublin Castle Roads Policing Division detected a car travelling at 210 KM/H on the M50. Driver tested positive for cannabis, arrested and blood sample taken. Court proceedings to follow."

Also yesterday, traffic cops detected a car doing over twice the legal speed limit on the N7. That driver was also arrested and charged, with a court appearance to follow.

Gardai have urged motorists to slow down and also reminded them to be more considerate when parking.

Several drivers were issued with fines near the Hellfire Club, prompting gardai to remind motorists to be more considerate when parking.

They tweeted a photo along with this message: "Gardaí at Rathfarnham issued a number of FCPNs (fixed charge penalty notices) today as cars parked in a dangerous manner near Masseys Wood/ Hellfire Club.

"Inconsiderate parking causes problems for free flowing traffic/emergency vehicles/ pedestrians & cyclists. Please park responsibly."

Following a sunny day yesterday, a disgusting amount of litter was strewn about Masseys Wood yesterday. The shameful scenes led Save the Hellfire to ask daytrippers to bring their rubbish with them.
