Motorist arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs in Little Lever

Greater Manchester Police traffic officers arrested a motorist on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Team XT18 stopped a Vauxhall Astra in Little Lever, after reports came in of possible drug use in Farnworth.

After identifying and stopping the vehicle, the team performed a roadside drugs test on the driver, who failed.

The driver has since been arrested.

Government advice outlines that it’s illegal to drive if you're unfit to do so because you're on legal or illegal drugs, or you have certain levels of illegal drugs in your blood.

If you’re convicted of drug driving you’ll get a minimum 1 year driving ban, an unlimited fine, up to 6 months in prison and a criminal record.

Your driving licence will also show you’ve been convicted for drug driving, which will last for 11 years.

If you have knowledge that someone is drug driving, you should report it to the police on 999.
